Description: | <P>Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.</P> This is the first Northern Ireland Gambling Prevalence Survey, carried out by the Northern Ireland Statistic and Research Agency’s Analytical Services Unit (ASU) on behalf of Social Policy Unit in the Department for Social Development (DSD).<br> <br> The aim of carrying out a Gambling Prevalence Survey in Northern Ireland (NI) is to obtain a measure of the prevalence of participation, problem gambling and attitudes towards gambling in NI; inform the development of gambling policy; provide a baseline for future monitoring, evaluation and review; and allow for comparability with similar surveys conducted in other jurisdictions, notably in the Great Britain. <br> <br> The survey closely follows the British Gambling Prevalence Survey model in an effort to provide some comparison with gambling in Great Britain (GB). This survey will provide baseline data regarding gambling in NI and can be used for comparison purposes with any future NI survey.<br> <br> <B>Main Topics</B>:<BR> The main topics covered by this survey are:<ul><li>participation in gambling activities;</li><br> <li>profile of gamblers;</li> <br> <li>problem gambling;</li><br> <li>attitudes to gambling.</li></ul> |
