Description: |
Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.

The Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Energy dataset (formerly the CO2 Emissions from Energy dataset) contains annual Greenhouse Gas emissions from fuel combustion and related indicators for a large selection of countries plus regional aggregates. Emissions were calculated using IEA energy databases and the default methods and emission factors given in the 2006 GLs for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories.

In recognition of the fundamental importance of understanding energy related environmental issues, the IEA Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Energy dataset provide a full analysis of emissions stemming from energy use and have become an essential tool for analysts and policy makers in many international locations. The publication is designed to assist in understanding the fuel specific and sectoral evolution of Greenhouse Gas emissions associated with combustion of fuels with data including data estimates back to 1751. Moreover, provisional emissions data for the current year are included for the OECD countries plus major emerging economies.

In OECD Member countries the data is collected by official bodies (most often the national statistics office in each country) from firms, government agencies and industry organisations and are then reported to the IEA using questionnaires to ensure international comparability. In non-OECD countries the data are collected directly from government and industry contacts and from national publications.

These data were first provided by the UK Data Service in June 2005 and are updated semi-annually.

Main Topics:
Topics covered include:

CO2 emissions

fossil fuel

combustion

anthropogenic emissions

issues around understanding the evolution of CO2 emissions

|
