Description:	This study is a part of a research project about trials to spread information on developing countries through multimedia (see SND 0146). The purpose of this survey was to describe some important characteristics of people within the daily press who are responsible for the foreign material. Some of the questions dealt with evaluation of news, problem awareness in relation to the work, opinions on the news supply, and the purpose of the selection of information about developing countries. Other questions were similar to those put in Information about developing countries (SND 0146) and World picture of opinion leaders (SND 0126); threats against the future, attitudes to different kinds of help to developing countries, and reason for not being concerned with developing countries. Forskningsprojektet 'Informationsstrategier - Analys och utvärdering av försök med spridning av u-landsinformation genom multimedia' hade som uppdrag att utvärdera en informationskampanj om u-länder i allmänhet och Tanzania i synnerhet. Kampanjen gick under namnet Karibu-projektet. Data samlades in i flera olika undersökningar, varav 'Dagspressjournalister och utrikesinformationen' är en. Avsikten med denna undersökning var att försöka beskriva några viktiga egenskaper hos de människor som inom dagspressen svarar för utbudet av utrikesmaterial. Genom förfrågan till 36 slumpmässigt utvalda dagstidningar insamlades uppgifter om vilka personer, förutom chefredaktörer, som arbetade med utrikesmaterial, antingen som journalister eller som redigerare. Frågorna gällde respondentens bakgrund; regelbunden tidnings- och tidskriftsläsning; en händelses nyhetsvärde; problem vid arbete med artiklar om u-länder; möjlighet att skaffa kunskaper genom massmedia; åsikter om nyhetsförmedling; tidningens målsättning med urvalet av u-landsmaterial; faktorer som kan medföra ett hot mot framtiden; hjälp till fattiga länder; olika hjälpformers värde; orsaker till att vissa länder är fattiga; anledning till icke-engagemang; attityder till frågor om u-landsproblem och levnadsstandard; samt bakgrundsuppgifter om tidningen respondenten arbetar på.
