Description: | <P>Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.</P>The general aims of the study are to assess the impacts of Phase One of Metrolink, Manchester's Light Rail system on:<br> (i) Various aspects of travel behaviour (especially choice of travel mode) and travel demand, and<br> (ii) On changes in economic activity and land uses (such as retailing, offices, leisure facilities). <B>Main Topics</B>:<BR> Job characteristics (occupation, full-time/part-time); residential location; structure of journey-to-work trips by vehicle/mode stages; car availability/ driving licence; employer assistance for journey-to-work; use of car for work; views on characteristics of public transport; views on advantages/disadvantages of working in Manchester city centre; use of Manchester city centre from workplace location; personal characteristics; knowledge of, and views on, the planned Metrolink system; reasons for use/non-use of Metrolink; previous employer and previous mode of transport to work. |
